Join me for a hands-on workshop where we will delve into the art of natural dyeing using food waste on silk. You will make pink from avocados, orange from onions, blues from cabbage. We will work on pure silk scarves, using pantry staples to make tie-dye patterns.

You’ll learn how to select and prepare food waste for natural dyes, work with mordants to fix colour, and explore traditional Chunri tie-dye techniques - popular across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Sindh and Punjab - using thread and dried beans.

This workshop is suitable for both complete beginners and experienced natural dyers. 

Age 16+ only.

Please wear close toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind staining/ bring an apron. 

All materials will be provided but you are encouraged to save your avocado pits and onion skins and bring them along to add to the dye vats.

Each person will go home with a silk scarf dyed during the workshop, and an Intro to Natural Dyeing booklet to continue your natural dye journey at home.
